Bad Dreams

For three nights I have had nightmares. It makes me weary. What is the source of these dreams? Are they springing merely from tensions, concerns, fears, in my own heart and mind? Are the admonitions of the spirit (I think not.) Are they spiritual attacks?

I am very busy of late. Many tasks and responsibilities at work. Many tasks at work and home. Many projects of duty and pleasure. Much busyness.

My wife and I have been sniping a little at each other. Though we apologize, we aren’t always kind. I do not care for it at all. But even though we have had a slight edge to our conversations, springing from the weariness of all our tasks, especially those involving the special needs of our children, we still try to remain tender toward each other. I wake from a bad dream to my wife praying over me.

Life is hard.

Life is good.

Are your dreams re-occuring? Dreams can give tremendous insight.

I've been fascinated by dreams for a very long time. I think there are at least five types of dreams:

Anxiety based (stress, fears, etc.)

Flotsam & Jetsome (the subconscious doing a little rearranging of memories and ideas, very random)

Creative (the mind is at play and creates a little story, sometimes to tell ourselves something it feels is important)

Message from God (rare, but it has happened a few times to me)

Spiritual attacks

Oops... Didn't answer your question directly. I think these dreams fall into the last category.

Wow . . . to wake to your spouse praying over you . . . I can think of no greater gift one could give their spouse. Share the same with her . . . I cannot imagine how "lifted" she would begin her day waking to her husband fervently praying over her! . . . let us know . . .

We pray for each other every night as we fall asleep, and whenever we feel the need.

I am a lucky fellow.

Proverbs 3:24
When you lie down, you will not be afraid; when you lie down, your sleep will be sweet.

I'll keep you in prayer about this.
Are you:

...So weighed down with the to-do list that you worry about failing in one or more of the areas?

...Taking any medicines that may have that side effect?

...Eating sugary/fatty things or drinking anything that would cause it?

Just some things I thought would help as a checklist. The last time I had a nightmare was 4 years ago after a friend of mine was murdered. I was losing so much sleep I tried taking Melatonin. Apparently it didn't agree with me (or I wasn't used to it) because it gave me a vivid, demonic kind of dream. Of course, I was going through a bunch at the time also.

Wow . . . it warms my heart that there are married men and women who pray with and for and over each other every day . . . you truly are blessed . . . and so is she :)
