Post

I am writing a new post for this blog (I have discarded two versions already), and I thought I'd just drop a note here asking for your patience. I try to post once or twice a week, but with school starting it is difficult.

I am writing about prayer. Types of prayer, effects of prayer, purpose of prayer.

If any of you have thoughts about it, I would love to hear them. Perhaps they will help me with this third version.

Thank you.

C.S.

Things happen when you pray that don't happen when you don't pray. This is one of the reasons I pray & encourage others to. Experience tells me that something is up with prayer.

I'm right there with you, teacher!

Re: prayer. I was worried about buying car seats. They are so expensive, and I knew I needed a variety of sizes - infant through little child booster seats. I prayed about it, and within days, I found someone on ebay selling a like-new booster seat for $1 here in my town - and they allowed me to come pick it up so I didn't have to pay shipping. A week later (just a few days ago), someone sat a perfectly good toddler car seat out by the dumpster at our apartment complex. Have you EVER seen a car seat by a dumpster? I don't think I have - and it's no coincidence. God answered and provided.

Sometimes he tells me "NO", and sometimes "WAIT". Right now, I'm waiting, and trying to be patient. The "YES" will come when his timing is perfect.

Prayer is a direct connection to God. We don't always get the answer we want to hear, but it is for our good. We need to say thank-you to our Heavenly Father for all we have.

My prayers are more like what others would call "talking to myself". All day, I am talking things over with God. My husband wouldn't like it if our relationship was only a short talk when we go to bed at night or when I need something so why would I think God would be happy with that kind of realtionship?

One of my favorite examples of prayer comes from a movie called "The Apostle." The monologue between Sonny and Jesus happens in the first part of the movie and it sounds like I wished I could pray for a while, until I tried it the other day and discovered it works. :)
